Improving the Draft of your Artist Statment

Hyperallergic is the name an influential visual art blog based out of Brooklyn. Way back in 2013 they published a piece by an artist that made fun of artist statements and claimed that they were always doomed to be stupid and antiquated. About a month later, another artist wrote a reply, "In Defense of Artist Statements," that gave a sincere and positive account of how and why artist statements are not only a necessary evil for the "business of art," but are genuinely useful tools for clarifying your practices and intentions as an artist.

OK: So how do you go about improving your artist statement? Specificity. What is different, unique, special about your particular way of seeing/making?
